New peak concurrency of 71,159

September 30, 2008 Daniel Voyager Leave a comment

On Sunday 27th of September 2008, the peak of in-world users went up from 70,911, last week to 71,159 on Sunday. I can remember when it was like 5,000 to 10,000 online active users back in 2006 when I joined TSL, amazing growth.

Suggestion: I would love to see statisitcs for Teen Second Life (TSL, TG, TL). posted on blogs or even the Official Second Life Blog more often. Also, it would be great to see TSL stats (online active users) on the start up screen.

Quotes from the New World Notes blog:

  • “active users are about 10x the peak concurrency, which would suggest a recurring SL user base of 710K+.”
  • “As of last week, the company users stats counted 870,619 Residents who’d logged in during the last 30 days. ”
  • “average roughly 12,000 a day; i.e., about 360,000 new users a month.  So subtracting 360K from 870,619, we’re left with around 510,000 monthly recurring users.”
  • “while concurrency is growing, the number of active monthly users still seems to be stuck at around 500-550K+– a plateau that’s existed since last year.”
  • “Still, there does seem to be some growth on that metric.  Mark added that last Thursday “was a record breaking day for most unique users ever logging in during a single day at 238K.” “

When will it reach 100,000 online active users ?

Visit my Statistics page for more information about stats for SL and TSL! – Feel free to comment if you have new statistics for teen second life.

Saving TSL Explanation

September 29, 2008 Daniel Voyager 1 comment

Created by Amd Karu – Owner of Saving TSL.

“What is Saving TSL?
Why does it exist?
What is wrong with TSL?

Since the beginning of 2008, the Teen Grid has been in a state of depression. 28% of all avatars created did not log in this year. 69% of all avatars created did not log in this month. It is clear that many residents are leaving or transferring over to the Main Grid. However, less people are joining.

This year, credit card verification was removed from TSL sign ups. This meant that the only means of verifying your identity are Paypal or cell phone verification. Paypal has many security layers meaning that it is very difficult to sign up to TSL using Paypal as verification. Cell phone verification is heavily restricted to only a few providers in the USA. This is the cause of the low amount of sign ups.

Due to this, there are less consumers for businesses in TSL. This is why the economy is struggling. Also, due to real life economical issues, few of the newcomers that actually make it through registration can actually buy products in TSL.

Not only this, but new residents are not welcomed by the so called “Welcome Area”. They are surrounded by newcomers just as confused as they are, while all the other residents are quitting or at the opposite end of the grid. This is causing new residents to leave within a week or two. 86% of all profiles on search are empty, and have not been customised at all.

Saving TSL is trying to change all this. We want more methods of verification introduced, we want the lives of newcomers improved, we want to improve the community and the economy.

Many people will disagree that TSL is in a state of depression, and many people just don’t care. To those that disagree, why criticise our cause if its going to do nothing but improve the grid? And to those that don’t care, why are you still playing TSL?! You have to face the fact that some people here want the grid to thrive.

We own a group called “Saving TSL” which has over 130 members. Want to help? Type Saving TSL into search and click Join (0L$). If you can’t find it, you can ask someone in the group for an invite.

Thank you for showing an interest in “Saving TSL”.

New TG Development Home

September 26, 2008 Daniel Voyager Leave a comment

BREAKING TSL NEWS

The Teen Grid now has a new TG Development website page, thanks to Totem Gufler and everyone else who helped with it.

Check it out: http://tgdevelopment.wikidot.com/

Introduction about TG Development Home

“This wiki is meant to be a resource for developers on the Teen Grid of Linden Lab’s Second Life. The Teen Grid is a budding environment. This wiki serves as a way for teens to hone their skills, get useful tips on creating objects and scripts, and just a way to spread your ideas with other developers. We are not directly affiliated to any in-world group such as Mentors 2.0 or TSL Welcomers.”

How to join

“Any valid Teen Grid resident can join and modify this wiki. However, we reserve the power to revoke any user’s membership for any reason.”

“Please use your full TSL name or just your first name. If we find that you have used a name that can not be verified as part of the TG, we will ask you to change it.” You should have a valid Wikidot.com account and be logged in order to apply for membership.

Another step forward for the Teen Grid
